Crawl Space Encapsulation

Up to 50% of the air in your crawl space will make it in to your home.  This happens due to the “stack effect” which is when air moves through a building much like air through a chimney.

Encapsulation is a term used to describe sealing off a crawl space.  This is done by installing a Class 1 vapor barrier (usually a 10-20 mil thick poly).  The seams are overlapped, sealed and the vapor barrier is installed over the walls and any piers.  This closes off the outside air and moisture/gases from the soils creating a much improved crawl space environment.

Moisture/Humidity in your crawl space can cause

  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Bugs/Rodents
  • Mold
  • Mildew
  • Odors
  • Wood rot/damage

If you have a crawl space with any of the above issues give us a call or fill out the form for a free estimate.  We have a certified indoor air quality specialist on staff that can fully walk you through the reasons for encapsulation.
